Author Guidelines

JPRR accepts submissions via its own electronic submission management system. Articles must be submitted in PDF, or LaTeX document file format. The final manuscript must be submitted in LaTeX.

Authors should use the JPRR format described in the Formatting Guide.

Articles may be accompanied by article versions in author's native language, online appendices containing data, demonstrations, instructions for obtaining source code, or the source code itself if appropriate. If the submission contains multiple files, please create an archive in tar or zip format. If an online appendix contains source code, we will require you to sign a release form prior to publication freeing us from liability.

Authors can verify that the manuscript has been successfully received by selecting ''Articles Status'' in Author Tools. The manuscript's ID tag should appear along the left-hand side. Following its link will show the status of the manuscript.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, OpenOffice, StarOffice, WordPerfect, or LaTeX document file format. The file extension must indicate the text format (e.g., .ps, .pdf, .doc, .sxw, .odt, or .tex).
  3. The title page must contain the article title, the corresponding author's name, e-mail, mailing address, and up to five key words. The abstract must not exceed 250 words.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 11-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. The text, if submitted to a peer-reviewed section (e.g., Methods for Pattern Analysis), has had the authors' names removed. If an author is cited, ''Author'' and year are used in the bibliography and footnotes, instead of author's name, paper title, etc. The author's name has also been removed from the document's Properties, which in Microsoft Word is found in the File menu.
